EPA continues to provide 24-hour security and coordinate the activities of PRP generators who supplied Remacor, Inc. with secondary magnesium scrap including turnings, shavings, chips and other finely divided cuttings. In all, 29 generators have been identified and issued 104e letters. Several of the companies are in the process of voluntarily removing their materials from the Site under the oversight of EPA and PADEP who control access to the Site. The 45-acre property contains thousands of drums, sacks, boxes and other containers of this flammable solid, many of which are in poor storage conditions. Generators are using subcontractors to assist them with identifying, moving, re-packaging, and loading their materials for transportation to other facilities for proper storage, recycling, or disposal.
Other recent site activities have included sampling and field analysis of drums in Deoxsulf building by PADEP. The OSC has been in communication with Pratt & Whitney and Intermet on the removal of drums from the Remacor site.

START attended the morning safety meeting held by URS, Meridian’s subcontractor.
URS transported super sacks from the Deoxsulf building to their staging area in Building #7. One truck was loaded with 48 pallets of product with an estimated gross weight of 28,880 pounds. The trucking company Autumn is a subcontractor of Meridian. The load was consigned to Mag Pro, Camden, TN, a subcontractor of Meridian.
EPA Messimer was on Site to oversee operations. Messimer met with START and coordinated the elements of cost tracking and reporting required for the project.
OSC Downie directed ERRS to procure three phone lines and delivery of 500 pounds of propane that is used in heating the office space at the site.
EPA Messimer and START conducted a site walkthrough and performed video-documentation of the magnesium drums and containers located in buildings and open areas north of the main site access road.
START accompanied URS (Radus, Davidson) who were at the site on behalf of American Iron & Metal Company, Inc. (A.I.M.) to look at the magnesium materials that A.I.M. brokered and sent to Remacor for Pratt & Whitney Canada. START helped URS identify the material. URS may be a subcontractor for A.I.M. for the handling of the material.
Labor Ready, a subcontractor for Spartan Light Metal Products, loaded one bulk truckload of magnesium solids. The approximate gross weight of the load was 40,000 pounds. The load was consigned to Mag Pro, Camden, TN.
PADEP (Morettini) assisted with oversight of Remacor site.
PADEP accompanied Remacor (Jackman) on site while he dropped off and retrieved files.
START conducted PRP oversight and provided written and photographic documentation.
EPA Messimer demobilized.
Meridian anticipates removing one more additional truckload during the week for a total of two truckloads for the week.
Meridian anticipates removing three truckloads of product during the week of 3/19/2007.
OSC anticipates that Pratt & Whitney will mobilize to the site on 3/19/2007 to repackage and remove 1,200 to 1,700 drums of product from site.
OSC anticipates Rolls Royce Corporation will mobilize to the site no later than March 28, 2007 for repackaging and removal of product.
Spartan anticipates removing a bulk truckload of material on 3/14/2007.
The OSC anticipates Pratt & Whitney to develop a Work Plan/SHASP before beginning work on site.
PADEP anticipates taking further samples of drums in the Deoxsulf building for analysis in the future.
