EPA is continuing emergency removal actions at this site during the repackaging, transportation, and removal of flammable magnesium materials. Magnesium generators, who previously supplied Remacor with recyclable magnesium and magnesium alloys, are removing their materials from the site. Magnesium generator, Intermet, is on site to continue segregating and weighing before shipping their pallets. Magretech is looking at orphaned drums to see if they can use them in their operation. ERRS contractor Guardian is on site. START is conducting sampling and using an Innov-x Alpha 4000 S for readings of soil. SPX Contech, from Portage, MI, and MJ Metals of Bridgeport, CT, are coordinating with EPA for removal of their magnesium materials. To date 12 generators have removed, or are in various stages of planning in order to remove, their drums off site. EPA and PADEP officials continue to control access to the site in addition to coordinating the activities of the various generators.

Intermet’s subcontractor NIAPRO weighed and segregated 3truckloads of pallets.
Meridian’s subcontractor Labor Ready received lids, vent bungs, and collars to change on meridians 130 drums.
EPA’s OSC Easton was on site for oversight and coordination of site activities.
PADEP Hoffman mobilized to site to assist in site overview and sampling. PADEP Hoffman demobilized.
START attended a morning safety meeting held by EPA’s ERRS contractor (Guardian). Guardian continues to Hazard categorize samples and chemicals retrieved from labs and offices around the site. Guardian is also lab packing during this process.
START identified 17 drilling companies as possible vendors for 4 monitoring wells, a request was sent to 5 of those companies. The request was for quotes on 4 monitoring wells on site, they were requested to have them in by noon on 6/21/07. As of noon 6/21/07 only 2 were received and they are being evaluated.

Intermet’s subcontractor NIAPRO weighed and segregated 2 loads of pallets in preparation for future shipment off site.
Meridian’s subcontractor Labor Ready finished replacing lids on Meridians 130 drums and cleaned their work areas.
ERRS contractor Guardian continued to classify chemicals and samples. Guardian is using chemical categorization as a means to identify and segregate various chemicals and samples. The 1st phase was finished and lab packing will begin.

ERRS contractor Guardian completed lab packing samples and chemicals into proper shipping containers. Guardian has placed lab packing containers into a safe storage facility for future shipment for proper disposal. Guardian also moved 55-gallon drums of acid pumped from the acid tank to a segregated holding area and will ship them for disposal in the near future.

Intermet’s (generator) subcontractor, NIAPRO, plans to begin shipping pallets off site the week of 6/25/07.
American Iron & Metal will be off site 2 to 3 weeks to secure transportation and a receiver for their materials.
MJ Metals (generator) will submit a workplan/health and safety plan to EPA for the handling and removal of their drums from the site.
SPX Contech (generator) will submit a workplan/health and safety plan to EPA for the handling and removal of their drums from the site.
ERRS contractor Guardian will ship acid drums, and lab packs for proper disposal the week of 6/25/07.
EPA will continue to coordinate with magnesium waste generators for the safe and appropriate removal of the material from the site. EPA will continue to coordinate with all local, state, and federal agencies.
