EPA is continuing emergency removal actions at this site during the repackaging, transportation, and removal of flammable magnesium materials. Magnesium generators, who previously supplied Remacor with recyclable magnesium and magnesium alloys, are removing their materials from the site. Monitoring Wells have been installed to aide in accessing extent of contamination on site. Winters Performance Products, Inc. is currently repackaging and making preparations to ship its product off site. MJ Metals of Bridgeport, CT, is coordinating with the EPA to be on site for drum identification and count. To date 14 generators have removed, or are in various stages of planning in order to remove, their drums off site. EPA and PADEP officials continue to control access to site in addition to coordinating the activities of the various generators.

MHF the subcontractor for American Iron & Metal (AIM) loaded 2 trucks of AIM. The trucks were consigned to Magpro, Camden, TN and were transported by Dandy Services, Warrendale, PA. The loads consisted of 29 pallets @ 4 drums/pallet, 1 pallet @ 3 drums/pallet, and 9 pallets @ 8 drums/pallet. The total of both loads was 191 drums at an estimated weight of 77,000 pounds. MHF also continued to drain super sacks belonging to AIM as well as use a polymer to absorb water.

American Iron & Metals (AIM) subcontractor MHF Logistical Solutions continued to stage and examines super sacks belonging to AIM for eventual shipment off site.
EPA’s OSC Jack Downie was on site to oversee operations and entry to the site. OSC Downie and START were alerted that a fire was taking place at Magpro, Camden, TN and that it may affect the 2 loads of AIM product that had been shipped off site on 9/10/07. OSC Downie was later contacted and told that Magpro, due to the fire would not be able to take any further product. One truck arrived on site and left without taking a load because of the events at Magpro.
PADEP Morettini mobilized to site and assisted in oversight of all activities. PADEP Morettini demobilized.

American Iron & Metals (AIM) subcontractor MHF Logistical Solutions was contacted by the 2 truck drivers that had taken loads from the site on 9/10/07. The drivers were to return both loads to site on 9/13/07 per agreement with the EPA and American Iron & Metal.

American Iron & Metal (AIM) will be looking for a consignee to ship their product to.
Intermet is making plans to resume shipping their product off site.
MJ Metals (generator) will make arrangements to be on site for identification of their drums. MJ Metals will conduct this search along with the former Plant Manager of Remacor. This will be done because of discrepancy in drum count on site.
EPA will continue to coordinate with magnesium waste generators for the safe and appropriate removal of the material from the site. EPA will continue to coordinate with all local, state, and federal agencies.
