EPA is continuing emergency removal actions at this site during the repackaging, transportation, and removal of flammable magnesium materials. Magnesium generators, who previously supplied Remacor with recyclable magnesium and magnesium alloys, are removing their materials from the site. SPX Contech has shipped its last load off site. No new PRP activity is scheduled at this time.
EPA’s ERRS is shipping the non hazardous bulk material off site. PADEP is providing technical and oversight support at the site. EPA START contractor TechLaw is providing technical and administrative support to the EPA. EPA and PADEP officials continue to control access to the site in addition to coordinating the activities of the various generators.

06/07/08 Emergency and Rapid Response Services (ERRS) contractor Guardian Environmental, Inc held its morning safety meeting and discussed the days planned activities. ERRS suspended shipping of bulk debris piles for the present but will resume shipping the week of 6/9/08. ERRS continued repackaging material found in various buildings on site to make the material DOT shippable. ERRS did routine maintenance on equipment and housekeeping on the site for the weekend.
START assisted as needed and conducted written/photographic documentation. START demobilized.
06/09/08 START attended the morning safety meeting held by MHF. MHF finished removing debris and cleaning areas they had working in. MHF has finished shipping and all areas are clean.

Emergency and Rapid Response Services (ERRS) contractor Guardian Environmental, Inc held its morning safety meeting and discussed the days planned activities. ERRS received 1 truckload of 55-gallon drums to continue to repackage material. ERRS shipped 5 truckloads of bulk non hazardous material off site. The loads were estimated to weigh 44,000 pounds (22 tons) each for a total of 220,000 pounds (110 tons). The loads were consigned to BFI-Carbon Limestone Landfill, Lowellville, OH and were transported by John Brown Trucking, New Castle, PA. START mobilized to site, assisted the EPA as needed and conducted written/photographic documentation.
EPA will continue to coordinate with magnesium waste generators for the safe and appropriate removal of the material from the site. EPA will continue to coordinate with all local, state, and federal agencies.
