EPA has been performing an emergency removal action at this site which has primarily involved the stabilization, repackaging, transportation, and removal of hazardous magnesium materials and other solid wastes from the facility. EPA completed the activity of repackaging abandoned magnesium materials that have been stored in drums that have succumbed to varying degrees of corrosion. The repackaged materials are being staged inside site buildings pending removal from the site. Areas of the site including open pad areas, low areas and drainage ways are being cleared of residual wastes that had spilled when the facility was operating. Recycling and disposal options continue to be investigated for the repackaged materials. PADEP is overseeing site activities for the state and providing support. EPA START contractor TechLaw is providing technical and administrative support to the EPA. EPA and PADEP officials continue to control access to the site as well as coordinate activities with the various generators and disposal contractors.

USEPA OSC Jack Downie was on site to oversee operations. USEPA Removal Program Senior Site Administrative Officer (SSAO), R. Messimer, mobilized to the site for administrative oversight. SSAO demobilized by C.O.B.
PADEP representatives M. Hoffman and C. Tordella mobilized to the site and assisted EPA with oversight. PADEP personnel demobilized by C.O.B.
Emergency and Rapid Response Services (ERRS) contractor Guardian Environmental Services, Inc. held its morning safety meeting and discussed the days planned activities. ERRS transported low-level Rad drums from building 2 to building 7 and continued routine maintenance and clearing grounds areas of residual process materials.
St. Joseph Motor Lines arrived on site with one truck and loaded 55 drums of solids (27,500 lbs) and 27 drums of various waste liquids (1,315 gallons). The wastes were transported off site to EQ Detroit, Inc., Detroit, MI for disposal.
A representative of Southern Alloy and Demo of Grenada, Mississippi was anticipated to be on site to view the magnesium waste and determine if it could be recycled at their facility. The representative did not show up at the site for reasons unknown. ERRS will continue to pursue recycling and disposal options for the drums on site.

ERRS (GES) held its morning safety meeting and discussed the days planned activities. ERRS lab-packed a pallet of small containers in building 9, moved oil drums from building 9 to building 8, transferred material staged in supersacks to drums in building 9, and continued to plan for removing material from the vertical dry-solids tanks located near building 2. ERRS did weekly maintenance on equipment and cleaned work areas.

ERRS (GES) held its morning safety meeting and discussed the days planned activities. ERRS sorted out crushed drums from debris pile and inspected the contents of a large orphaned fuel tank that contained several inches of diesel. ERRS continued to clear spilled materials off of concrete pads and banded the 36 drums scheduled to be picked up by National Machine. ERRS did weekly maintenance on equipment and cleaned work areas.
ERRS will arrange for transportation of the drummed magnesium material to an off-site disposal or recycling facility. ERRS will also continue to arrange for off-site treatment and disposal of hazardous waste materials in building 9. ERRS is planning procedures to remove material from the vertical hopper tanks located adjacent to building 2 and will continue to remove spilled material from drainage ways, low areas and grounds areas.
