Current Activities
On May 20 and 21, 2009, Conestoga-Rovers & Associates (CRA) and Columbia Technologies preformed a soil boring and Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF) investigation to determine the extent of free product on site. Soil cores and LIF measurements were completed at all 15 locations planned. Groundwater levels were collected at the 5 on-site monitoring wells. One well contained an oily sheen on top of water, one well contained product on top of water, three wells contained water with no evidence of product. CRA collected a sample of the product for laboratory analysis. All waste water, soil, and soil core liners were drummed, labeled, and stored at the site staging area pending disposal.

Planned Removal Actions
The Removal Action will include a combination of the following:
1) hot spot removal;
2) contaminated soil removal;
3) physical containment (e.g., asphalt cap, soil cover, etc.);
4) free product containment or removal (e.g., LNAPL collection);
5) groundwater monitoring;
6) deed restriction recommendations; and
7) operation and maintenance.

Next Steps
•     CRA will prepare a technical memorandum summarizing the free product investigation.
•     Continue free product investigation on and off site, as necessary.
•     Determine the next phase of removal action upon completion of free product investigation.
