On 04.28.21, the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) was notified of a residence in Los Lunas, NM where the recently deceased owner had left multiple drums and containers of unknown wastes on the property.  The initial NMED assessment confirmed deteriorated and leaking drums, small chemical containers, cylinders and five gallon buckets.   On May 6, 2021 NMED contacted EPA to request assistance for assessment and cleanup.  On May 13, 2021, an EPA Team deployed to the site to conduct an assessment of the residence,  onsite structures and abandoned wastes, and to conduct radiation (RAD) monitoring.
