The Great Rivers Coordination Group represents a collaborative effort of federal and state agencies from within the geographic area surrounding the confluence of the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers designated the Great Rivers Subarea. The Great Rivers Subarea includes the following counties lying within three states and three federal regions:


Illinois: Alexander, Gallatin, Hardin, Jackson, Massac, Pope, Pulaski, Randolph, and Union Counties

Kentucky: Ballard, Carlisle, Crittenden, Fulton, Hickman, Livingston, McCracken, and Marshall Counties

Missouri: Cape Girardeau, Perry, Mississippi, New Madrid, Scott, and Ste. Genevieve Counties


Our vision is to ensure the readiness of all responders in this jurisdictionally complex area to better prepare for discharges of oil, releases of hazardous substances, and to protect the public and the environment from impacts.
