On July 15, 2013, the EPA Region 7 spill line received a call at 1530 from a homeowner reporting reoccurring issues with potential mercury beads appearing on her kitchen cabinet. The homeowner stated that beads had been appearing 3-4 times per week for 3-4 months. The homeowner contacted the poison control center who referred her to EPA. The homeowner stated that she has a 10 year old daughter and 6 year old son who live with her. The homeowner stated that after speaking to poison control she searched her kitchen cabinet and may have found the source of the mercury. She cleaned the visible mercury up with a disinfectant and paper towels prior to caling EPA.
