On June 22, 2022, Washington Department of Ecology requested EPA support to provide oversight of cleanup activities at a mercury spill that occurred in a storage locker facility in Puyallup, WA.

EPA deployed 1 OSC and 1 START contractor to oversee the PRP conduct the appropriate cleanup activities.  The PRP contractor removed the elemental mercury, utilized decontamination methods and removed investigation-derived waste.  Oversight and cleanup activities were completed early in the morning of June 23.
