A truck driver for the Plains at Stevens Facility overfilled his truck on the morning of 9/17/2014. Approximately 60 bbls of crude were discharged. A to be determined portion of that discharge migrated along a ditch and an unnamed tributary of the Bogue Homo waterbody for approximately 0.17 miles before being contained in the headwaters of the Bogue Homo. Plains has hired an OSRO, secured and contained the spill. MDEQ has ensured that appropriate resources are being brought to the scene.
MDEQ requested Federal assistance to join them on the morning of 9/18/2014 to assist in ensuring compliance with the National Contingency Plan (NCP) during the course of this response. The South Mississippi/SW Alabama Outposted OSC has been dispatched.
The Bogue Homo travels for approx 10 miles before merging with Shubuta Creek which then runs for approx 3 miles before merging with the Chickashawahy River.
